Subfloor Preperation

From the initial consultation with one of our expert flooring assessor’s, all aspects of your subfloor will be taken into consideration to allow the best final finish and longevity of your new flooring. When our specialists first visit the property, we thoroughly discuss what you’re looking for, and we come up with all the solutions to help you along the way with your flooring project. We believe that subfloor preparation work is one of, if not the most important procedure in the process of installing a brand new floor.

Subfloor preparation work is more critical in the circumstances of having LVT/LVP vinyl flooring. Floor preparation is a large part of LVT/LVP installation and is more critical than ever. In fact, floor preparation can take greater than 70% of an installer’s time on a project. All LVT/LVP flooring shares the need for the substrate to be perfectly flat to perform properly. While every step of the LVT/LVP project is important, proper floor preparation can help avoid problems, save time and money, and ensure our customers are satisfied with their floors.

The Finishing Touch

A concrete substrate must be at least 28 days old to ensure it is fully dried and cured. Every concrete substrate should be tested for moisture content using the RH method. This method is recommended over the Calcium Chloride method because it measures the moisture within the slab and not just on the surface. Moisture vapor barriers can be applied if moisture is expected to be an issue in the future.
